IT Students Visit Videogame Festival
25 IT BTEC students, currently studying Computer Game Design at the start of their second year course attended the Games Britannia Schools Videogame Festival, which ran from 2-6th July. Held in the huge former steelworks of the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham.

Student Carries Olympic Flame!
Sports student Jemma Edwards carried the Olympic torch on the 2nd June 2012. Jemma was nominated by Sport England for her voluntary work in community sports and ran through the Isle of Man during the first few days of the relay.

Revolting Children Act Up at BSFC!
The sixth form college presents Revolting Children, a new variety production written, directed and choreographed by students from Musical Theatre.
Revolting Children is a musical revue based on a dysfunctional school, set to the music of popular west-end shows and contemporary hip-hop, an all singing all dancing production takes you on a journey through Monstrosity Hall Primary School. The cast have created a school full of bloody thirsty, hyperactive deviants; come to the show and meet stinking students, terrible teachers and worst of all… the Headmistress.

Childcare Have a Wild Day Out!
Staff and students from our Childcare department had a fantastic trip to Chester Zoo on the 24th May. Perfect sunny weather meant giraffes, rhinos and lots of other animals were happily out to play.

Olympic Torch and Sports Success for Students
The Olympic torch is taking a 70-day, 8,000 mile (12,874km) journey around Britain and the relay passes our doorstep on Friday 1st June, around 6.00pm.

Plain Pack Protect
In April we invited NHS researchers into college as part of a national project investigating young people’s attitudes on tobacco branding.
Piloting the research approach here at BSFC; The team from Plan Packs Protect were in college common areas wearing jackets lined with branded cigarette packages and carrying iPads, collecting information from students.
