25 IT BTEC students, currently studying Computer Game Design at the start of their second year course attended the Games Britannia Schools Videogame Festival, which ran from 2-6th July. Held in the huge former steelworks of the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham.
The students were able to experience a multitude of games from the very beginnings of computer gaming through to some of the newest (not yet released) titles including Beat The Beat, Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing and Doctor Who. Some of the students also took part in workshops finding out about the history of computer gaming, future technologies and using Minecraft in education. Lots of them tried out different games and games controlled in different ways – World of Warcraft controlled using only eyes and a game with no picture where you had to use the sounds and controller to find your prey!
