The college has completed a brand new block of classrooms and refurbishment, investing almost £1m pounds following a successful bid for local authority funding.

From September humanities courses will be taught in modern classrooms and support facilities designed by specialists in education spaces and urban design, Ainsley Gommon Architects. White rendered exterior walls frame floor to ceiling windows looking out across Claughton Village and Park Road West.

The refurbishment of college included redecorating of current classrooms, corridors and improved common areas. In March 2011 a student survey revealed concerns about social spaces; the Refectory ( fondly known by students as ‘the fec’) is now 8SQ; a versatile space and café offering new menus, barista coffee and a wide range of healthy snacks and treats. The addition of a large conservatory fitted out with sofas, tables and benches expands social areas for students considerably. Freshly decorated with bright colours, matching furniture, new fixtures and a projector screen; 8SQ offers a flexible space for events and functions.

Phase two of buildings development sees former BSFC student and architect Rachel Clegg, of Ainsley Gommon Architects return to college to plan a purpose-built art block. Construction begins on the Shrewsbury Road side of the college site over summer, incorporating advanced amenities for arts courses.

Future plans and growth rest upon funding but include the upgrading of science accommodation.
