Image of 2010 UK Sports Games - Tom Barton wins Silver!

We’re delighted that British Champion swimmer Tom Barton has joined the College this year.  The Sport Studies student has already added to our silverware, when he was selected to compete on behalf of England at the 2010 UK School Games.
Tom competed against young elite swimmers from across the nation at the Sunderland Aquatic Centre in September, gaining silver in the 400 and 200 meter individual medley.  The Games is the pinnacle sports event for school-aged people competing in the UK and saw 1,600 athletes descend on the North East to participate in four days of exciting competition across 10 sports.
Olympic gold medalist Rebecca Adlington congratulated Tom on his selection and predicted the experience would prove invaluable in preparing him for competition against other world class swimmers.  Tom swims with Liverpool Swimming Club and is coached by Mike Roberts.  He is combining study at the College with preparing for glory in the 2016 Olympics.
