Principal of Birkenhead Sixth Form College, Mike Kilbride, Awarded MBE for Services to Education

In a momentous occasion celebrating a career dedicated to educational excellence, Mike Kilbride, Principal of Birkenhead Sixth Form College, has been awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his outstanding services to education. The honour was formally bestowed upon him by the Princess Royal during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Mike’s leadership has been instrumental in transforming Birkenhead Sixth Form College into a nationally recognised beacon of post-16 education. Under his stewardship, the College has undergone a remarkable journey of improvement, innovation, and ambition, culminating in its current status as one of the top three sixth form colleges in the country.

The MBE recognises Mike’s relentless commitment to raising educational standards, fostering an inclusive and aspirational environment, and reshaping the College into a model of best practice. His focus on staff empowerment, student success, and evidence-based teaching has earned accolades both locally and nationally.
