Image of Students get hands-on in Phobia Day

Snakes, spiders, cockroaches in College…

Ashley Vallance, Head of Psychology, explained:

"Psychology students are investigating the psychopathology of phobias. With the most common phobia in the UK being arachnophobia, students are entering a world of creepy crawlies and other interesting creatures to reflect on the nature of phobias and where they may have originated. As part of Psychology A Level, students delve into the derivatives of phobic conditions and in explaining their origin will be able to see the power of systematic desensitisation. Bird-eating tarantulas, constricting pythons and poisonous toads are amongst the creatures that our friends at the Creepy Crawly Show bring with them into College, so students truly experience mind over matter in this hands-on activity."
