Birkenhead Sixth Form College students have been showing their gratitude to their teachers with special ‘thank you’ cards and messages.
The Pearson Teaching Awards allows students to nominate their teachers for praise online, leaving personalised messages either with their name attached or anonymously. The teachers in question then got a lovely surprise in the post when thank you cards arrived from Pearson telling them about the messages that the students left.
Assistant Principal and Law teacher Paula Blakemore, History teacher David Simpkin, Jane Mackenzie from the Law department, Head of Student Development Jo Wood and Student Development Tutor Jade Powell all received messages from their grateful students, highlighting the outstanding work they and the rest of the staff do, day-in, day-out.
Read some of the messages below:
"Thank you for being an amazing teacher. You create a space where all the students feel like they can complete their work to a good standard and make it easier to complete work while in a comfortable, fun environment."
“I wanted to say Thank You for being a great teacher. You make each lesson unique and fun and you put effort into making your lessons accepting of everybody there, so Thank you!”
“Thank you for inspiring me! I had no idea what I wanted to do at university, or as a job afterwards, when I arrived at College, but your passion for what you do was really helpful to me in deciding what I wanted to do. You're a brilliant teacher and should be very proud of the work that you do around College. It's clear to all of your students that you care about us as you consistently go out of your way to make life easier for us. Thank you for everything you've done.”
“Thank you for never giving up on me and always believing in me, even when I didn't believe in myself.”
“Thank you for being such an amazing Tutor who always goes above and beyond to make me and my friends feel comfortable at College.”
