Sixth Form College Student, Phoebe Harrison has received an offer from Oxford University to study Modern Languages (French and Spanish) at St Johns College.
Phoebe, a former Upton Hall School student, took part in a gruelling interview process at Oxford where she had a total of 3 interviews with various academic representatives including the Head College Professors in both French and Spanish and current Oxford University students.
Prior to the interview process, Phoebe also had to prepare 3 essays as part of her application – in French, Spanish and English as well as produce an in-depth Personal Statement and sit an exam.
The academic 18 year old, who studies French, Spanish and History at The Sixth Form College, was delighted to get her offer letter, “I cried with my Mum and my next door neighbour when I got the letter I was so happy! I spent time at Oxford in April on the Oxford Access Programme for Merseyside schools and realised then that Oxford was where I wanted to go so to receive an offer is just incredible.”
During her time at The Sixth Form College, Phoebe has had the opportunity to develop her skills and knowledge in both French and Spanish on trips to Paris and Salamanca. Phoebe also commented on how she felt fully supported by the College throughout the application process, “All the staff have been incredibly supportive, I received help from the Assistant Principal Kate Rigby and my tutor Anna Kennedy with my Personal Statement and my French Tutor Vivianne Ouvradou was fantastic helping me to prepare me for my interview.”
Phoebe will study the course for 4 years with the option to study abroad for 1 year and is considering spending this time in Switzerland or Paris.
