22 January 2015
Students and Parents from across Wirral and beyond enjoyed an informative evening at our second Open Evening of the academic year.
During the evening, students and parents were able to speak with our specialist subject tutors about what each subject choice involves and how we can support students to ensure they are able to tailor a programme of study most suited to them and their future career aspirations. According to a recent report from OFSTED, offering a limited choice of courses can significantly affect student's results, which is why we’re proud to offer more A Level and BTEC choices than anywhere in Wirral.
All subject were exceptionally busy and visitors said that they enjoyed taking a look around the fantastic facilities including our Learning Resource Centre - The Hub, our dedicated Microsoft Training room, our modern Science Labs, The School of Art and Design and the College’s free Multigym.
Talks from our Principal, Kathryn Podmore and Deputy Principal, Mike Kilbride were held during the evening on what makes us Wirral’s Number One Sixth Form and how we achieve our established record of excellence in delivering education for 16-19 year olds in Wirral. A talk was also held on our Honours Programme with Assistant Principal Kate Rigby explaining how we can support high achieving students through a tailored academic programme to equip students with the knowledge and support needed to progress to a leading UK university. Students and Parents were able to find out more about the support available at The Sixth Form College from our Head of Learning Support, Sharon Kieran in the Learning Assistance Base.
