Students and staff at The Sixth Form College are celebrating another record-breaking year for A Level results.
Results at the College - one of only 94 specialist Sixth Form Colleges in England and Wirral’s largest A Level provider - have increased for the eighth consecutive year, with more than 1,000 individual exam successes at A Level.
The College achieved an overall pass rate of 99%, with a 100% pass rate achieved across 33 courses.
Over 40 per cent of students achieved prestigious A*, A, B or Distinction* grades with notable results of over 60% in Maths and 80% in Economics.
More than 300 students have been successful in gaining Higher Education places at universities including the prestigious Russell Group.
Principal Kathryn Podmore said: “The staff and I are absolutely thrilled with the excellent results secured by our students. The radical changes made to the structure of A Levels and AS exams this year meant that many people predicted poor results across the board in 2014. We are delighted that results at The Sixth Form College have improved for the 8th consecutive year – an outstanding achievement for the college.
Our A Level results demonstrate that The Birkenhead Sixth Form College is a centre of academic excellence which continues to support students to help them exceed expectations and achieve higher grades than they predicted when they join us.”
