Our AS Art students visited Liverpool City Centre last week with The Sixth Form College to visit the cities two major art galleries; Liverpool’s Walker Art Gallery and the Tate Liverpool.
The Walker Art Gallery houses one of the largest collections in England, outside of London including works, from the likes of Rembrandt and David Hockney.
The Tate Liverpool is part of a network of four galleries/museums, (including Tate Britain in London), that houses the United Kingdom's national collection of British Art, and International Modern and Contemporary Art.
Students were able to take inspiration from the artwork they saw on the day to influence their own coursework and found the trip useful and insightful.
If you are interested in studying art and design, find more information in our Prospectus or speak with the tutors by visiting us at one of our Open Evenings.
See below for some student comments on the trip:
“The Walker and Tate art galleries were really inspirational. I saw artwork from some of the most famous artists in the world and it was great to see the work up close.”

“I enjoyed spending time outside of class with other Art students; we shared ideas and learned a lot from seeing the original artwork. I really enjoyed how different some of the artwork looked and the variety of artwork there was. This has helped me so much and I will be using some of the art work I saw as influence for the rest of my brief.”
