A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to become Head of Subject for our A-level Psychology course.  We seek to appoint an outstanding and committed Psychology teacher to manage and lead our Psychology team. The suitable candidate will have a track record of proven success in terms of student outcomes, retention and destinations. We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate highly effective leadership and management which has contributed to high performance in others.

The role will be to lead our largest subject area and have overall responsibilities for the Psychology curriculum. Over 600 students study Psychology and there are a team of 12 specialist teachers delivering the AQA specification. The Head of Subject role involves being the subject specialist and final decision maker on curriculum matters. The suitable candidate will be knowledgeable about current educational research and effective practices, as well as having high standards that they instil in others. They will be able to adapt to various situations including supporting, motivating and challenging staff as and when is required.

The Psychology Department have their own purpose built building with large modern classrooms and electronic interactive screens. There are numerous extra- curricular activities provided on an annual basis including Criminology club, visits to London, guest speakers and a subject specific careers fair. There is opportunity for the new Head of Subject to contribute further to this range of events and activities. We are seeking to appoint an individual who is immersed in their subject and has an strong passion for Psychology.  

Salary: T1-T9 £32,178-£49,725 (plus additional £2,360 annual HOS payment)
