Image of DofE Gold students complete qualifying expedition

The College's Duke of Edinburgh coordinator, Paul Moore, talks through the students' achievements:

After July’s successful practice expedition, all 16 students returned to Snowdonia for their qualifying expedition. Spending four nights camping, covering about 65km over four days walking and encountering a range of different terrain and weather conditions, the three teams all successfully completed their assessed qualifying expedition.

Having learned from their practice expedition, the students were well prepared with all of the kit and food they needed all packed into their rucksacks for the journey. The weather was not so kind to them this time, experiencing some strong winds and some heavy downpours. Despite finishing their expedition feeling rather damp, all were delighted to find out they had passed their expedition section. The Assessor said they had all done incredibly well throughout showing good teamwork skills and resilience.

The DofE staff team are proud of their achievements and look forward to them completing the other sections of their awards so they can achieve the full Gold DofE Award and receive their Royal Invitations to Presentation Ceremonies.

If you are interested in doing your Gold DofE Award, you can sign up at the Clubs and Societies Fair in September.
