Opened in 2013, Birkenhead Sixth Form College’s School of Art & Design is home to some of the area’s most creative talent.
The base for students of Fine Art, Graphics, Textiles and the Art Foundation Diploma, the School boasts superb facilities for all subjects on the artistic spectrum, from the three-storey atrium display space to the specialist kiln room and the modern sewing machines. Such facilities, along with the College’s expert teaching from professional artists and designers, have seen the College’s Art students leave with exceptional results and go on to study at some of the country’s most prestigious universities including Central St Martins and take up jobs with well-respected creative companies.
Examiners in 2016 called the practice that goes on in the School of Art & Design ‘exemplary’ and visiting companies and professionals have commented that they thought that some of the students’ work was of a higher standard than they had seen in higher education.
