College student Bonnie dazzles at charity ‘Strictly’ show

A second year student at Birkenhead Sixth Form College has been impressing judges and the audience at a special charity ‘Strictly’ event as she showed off her dancing prowess.

Bonnie Chadwick took on the role of the ‘professional’ dancer at the show, partnered by amateur Andy as they took to the ballroom floor at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool.

Bonnie’s been dancing since she was just three years old, and she was part of the fourth ‘Maggie’s Strictly’ night with the dance company she performs with, Merrall’s Dance Centre in Moreton.

It wasn’t Bonnie’s first Strictly show that she’s taken part in, as she actually came out as the winner of the competition last time out in 2022.

The format of the show sees seasoned dancers paired off with novices in a ballroom dancing contest, with winners being chosen by both judges and the audience, all in aid of raising money for Maggie’s cancer charity based in Clatterbridge. Joining us from a school in Liverpool last year, Bonnie studies Health & Social Care, Applied Science and Sport, and has her sights set on becoming a physio after finishing at the College in Summer 2024.

Bonnie said: “It’s such a fun thing to get involved in and it’s great to see people who have never danced before having a really good go. It’s lovely to see that a lot of the people who took part last year as amateurs have actually kept it up and are still dancing now. If the opportunity comes around, I’d say to anyone to give it a try. It’s good exercise and you’re actually learning a new technical skill that will stay with you.”

She continued: “We didn’t win but Andy was a great partner and it was so enjoyable. My boyfriend’s mum actually won this year, so that was really nice. I’d hope to be part of it again next year and go one better and win again.
