The all-girls Football Team at the College have got their season off to a fantastic start winning their last two matches against local Merseyside teams.
The team, made up of Maria Stevenson, Jordan Marchant, Emma Johnson, Georgia Nelson, Ruby Keeler-Williams, Chantelle Hall, Sian McCosh, Emma Hughes and Abbie Sanders, recently won their match against Liverpool’s St John Bosco High School 2-1 as well as beating Cronton Sixth Form College in Widnes 1-0.
Jordan Marchant who joined The Sixth Form College from Saffron Walden County High School in Essex scored the winning goal against Cronton Sixth Form College. She said, “It is great that Birkenhead Sixth Form College has an all-girls football team to get involved with as I really enjoy taking part in the sport. It is a fun way to stay active and meet new people.”
Sport Studies tutor Helen Regan is delighted with the girls continued success stating, “We have been running the Girls Football Team since 2013 and each year the calibre of student involved is improving. The team this year looks set to be our most successful yet - they played a great passing team game with everyone making their own personal contribution and thoroughly deserved their wins. They are a credit to the college with their attitude and behaviour on and off the pitch.”
