Principal Kathryn Podmore has announced that 530 second year students successfully completed their A Levels and BTECs. A record 412 A Level exam results were at the prestigious grades A* to B.
The combination of a pass rate of 99 per cent and the College’s outstanding grades has placed the Sixth Form College in Birkenhead in the top tier of Sixth Form Colleges in the UK. The Sixth Form College sector is the highest performing 16-19 sector and there are just 93 specialist Sixth Form Colleges in England and Wales.
The Sixth Form College in Birkenhead is Wirral’s largest A-Level provider.
Principal Kathryn Podmore said: “We are absolutely delighted with our results and I would like to congratulate all of students and staff. More students than ever before have achieved prestigious A*, A and B grades with a 6% increase in high grades. Our results are truly outstanding because we have helped more students of all educational backgrounds to reach their potential and be successful and to attain the highest possible grades."
Results at the College have improved for the ninth consecutive year. Record numbers of students have applied to go on to higher education In September 2015. 475 students have applied to 127 different universities to study on 600 different courses. Admissions to the College have also continued to increase with over 1200 applications for this September and more students choosing to join the specialist sixth form than ever before.
