The Sixth Form College swimming team, made up of students Sydney Isaacs, Freya Griffiths, Nicola Harris and Emma Harris, reached 6th place in the English Schools’ Swimming Association North West Championships in September, making them the top school across Wirral and the whole of Merseyside.
The girls took part in the Regional Secondary Team Championship in the Girls Senior Freestyle Team and competed against other local and regional educational establishments such as West Kirby Grammar School and Merchant Taylors’. The girls achieved their 6th place victory with a completion time of 2:06.77 minutes - narrowly missing out on 5th place to St Christopher’s CE High School with a completion time of 2:06.75 minutes.
Team member Sydney, who studies Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics at The Sixth Form College, was thrilled with their achievement, “It was great to have the opportunity to represent the college doing something we all enjoy. We’ve had lots of support from the tutors, particularly Pat Riley who has been great helping us throughout.”
Sports and Physical Education Tutor, Patrick Riley added, “The girls were absolutely fantastic and put in a lot of hard work. I’m pleased this is reflected in their results and proud of how well they have done.”
