Dr Richard Mallows – Vice President of the British Psychological Society visited The Sixth Form College on Monday 8th September to deliver a speech to our students of Psychology and take part in a question and answer session.
The British Psychological Society is the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK and is responsible for the development, promotion and application of psychology for the British public. Prior to his work with the BPS Dr Mallows taught at York St John College for over thirty years and oversaw the development of psychology as a subject in its own right.
With over 400 students at the College this year alone choosing to study Psychology across AS and A Level, Dr Mallows visit was extremely valuable in terms of offering insight into the BPS and the career opportunities a qualification in Psychology could potentially lead to.
Head of Psychology, Rob Myatt, said of the visit, “We were honoured to have Dr Mallows visit the College, especially as this is only the second Sixth Form College in the country he has chosen to visit. Our students were able to ask Dr Mallows relevant and thoughtful questions regarding his career in Psychology and the subject as a whole which will no doubt help them with their future studies and deciding their future careers.”
