We opened our doors to the newly completed College entrance and reception area in January 2014, marking the end of a 3 year project and £3.5 million investment programme to enhance and extend the facilities offered to students.
The College’s new fascia has a modern and contemporary look and the large windows through to the reception space allow for a light and welcoming area which also features a stylish light fitting that adds that extra wow factor.
Former student of The Sixth Form College and Architect at Wirral-based Ainsley Gommon Architects, Rachel Clegg, has worked on the project from the beginning and designed the new college frontage.
As part of the investment programme, the college has also seen the addition of:
- The School of Art & Design: The new School of Art & Design was officially opened on November 15th 2013 by Dame Lorna Muirhead.
- The Wilfred Owen Building: The new humanities building officially opened on May 3rd 2013 by the Rt. Honourable Lord Adonis.
- The Learning Assistance Base: Our brand new Learning Assistance Base offers a relaxed and supportive environment for any students in need of extra support. Find out more about Wirral West MP and Employment Minister, Esther McVey’s visit to the students in the Learning Assistance Base here.
The college has also seen the addition of a Science Block fitted with brand new laboratories, a new Learner Services Base as well as improvements being made throughout the college to classrooms, the student social space ‘8SQ’ and the addition of a conservatory to increase the social space.
An official opening of the new reception will take place later in the year.
