Gold DofE candidates returned from their practice expedition in high spirits yesterday, having successfully completed four challenging routes in Snowdonia.

Camping and trekking over four days, the students experienced unusually hot and sunny weather and did exceptionally well in coping with the additional challenges the heat and sun presented.  The students taking part developed their teamwork, map reading and campcraft skills over the course of the expedition and were delighted to have completed the practice.  All who took part intend to continue with the qualifying expedition when they return in September.

Also, as part of the expedition, 5 former candidates (including 3 Student Ambassadors) attended as part of the staff team to fulfil the Residential aspect of the Gold DofE.

The Gold DofE award is offered as part of the enrichment activities at the College, run by experienced College Staff 2 of whom are qualified DofE Expeditions Assessors.  The Gold award is comprised of 2 expeditions as well as residential, volunteering and skills sections.

New students wanting to take part will be offered the opportunity when they start at College.
