BTEC IT students visited the National Media Museum in Bradford to start learning about modules they will cover in the second year of their course. Students who attended took part in an ‘Animation in Motion’ talk which introduced the different techniques of animation and later got to examine interactive displays to try out the different techniques introduced, helping them learn parts of the first animation assignments they will encounter when they start new modules.
The students were also able to play their way through gaming history using a range of classic consoles and arcade games, from Pong, to Manic Miner, Goldeneye, PacMan and pretty much everything between. The students will make use of this experience in assignments during the modules ‘Computer Game Design’ and ‘Developing Computer Games’.
Other exhibits included Life On_Line a history of the internet.
The trip was part of the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT – including modules focusing on Computer Games Design, Developing Computer Games, Computer Animation, Digital Graphics and Web Development during the second year.
