For the first time since 2011, Birkenhead Sixth Form College held its Battle of the Bands contest, seeking out the best in new music talent amongst students. Four bands battled it out for top spot, a cash prize and the chance to play a summer festival at Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton. The event was supported by local recording studio Fallen Industries.
This year’s contestants were:

A hard rock band, evoking the spirit of Led Zeppelin and Guns & Roses with electrifying form.
The Usual Crowd
Indie crowd movers, this four piece bring hand-clapping energy and melodies.
Griphook
Four-piece alternative pop-punk from Wirral
Catalyst
Raucous punk band making noise and having fun.
In a landslide vote from students and staff Griphook were announced the winners, swaying the crowd with a bold performance of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face.
