It was the third consecutive win for the team and a second win for Holly Higgins who delivered a meticulously researched speech, debating GM crops. The event was ably assisted by Chairperson Dean Avis and Proposer of the Vote of Thanks Gabriel Hobro. All are student members of the Birkenhead Sixth Form College Debating Club, co-ordinated by Head of History, Jane Cavanagh.

Rotary International Great Britain & Ireland encourages speaking and presentation skills in young people and are pleased that schools seem to agree. The RIBI Youth Speaks competition, as a result, continues to go from strength to strength each year, producing superb, quality speakers in young people aged from 11 to 18.
If you know of outspoken young people in your schools or youth groups, then seek out your local Rotary club and ask them for details. Please note that club and regional competitions may differ, check with your local Rotary club for more details.
