Image of Student Awarded Highest A Level Film Marks in UK!

Birkenhead Sixth Form College student Conor Stewart is celebrating this week after college gave him an award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. WJEC exam board recently announced Conor achieved the highest A Level Film Studies mark in the country for 2012 exam entrants. WJEC Film Studies Subject Officer, Jeremy Point traveled from Cardiff for the Prize Giving.

Conor gained the highest marks of all 2012 candidates who sat WJEC's A Level Film Studies examinations. When quizzed Conor said his A* success in Film Studies could be attributed to “the mature learning environment and amazing teachers!” He is currently at Liverpool University studying English and History, hoping to become a teacher in the future.

Kathryn Podmore, Principal of Birkenhead Sixth Form College was pleased by the news and said “I am delighted that Conor has been recognised nationally for his outstanding academic excellence. We are very pleased Conor has received this award, it is a wonderful achievement and one which truly reflects the standard of his work.”

Conor also received a certificate and prize of £50 to mark the occasion, together with a personal letter from Gareth Pierce, WJEC’s Chief Executive, congratulating him on such tremendous results.  Gareth referred to “an outstanding achievement, and evidence of the hard work that you and your teachers put into preparing for the examinations.”
