The College’s annual Futures Day is a standout event in the academic calendar for all first year students. It's just one of the many exciting opportunities available through our award-winning Careers Guidance Programme.

This year's Futures Day was bigger than ever, with over 60 organisations, employers, and universities in attendance, all eager to help students make informed decisions and inspire our students to be positive and ambitious about their next steps.

Students had the chance to attend inspiring talks from two of our guest keynote speakers - Dawn Williams and John Dove, who shared their career paths, offered advice on reaching personal goals, and discussed overcoming obstacles along the way.

Alongside this, students selected from 54 career focused talks by leading professionals in a variety of industries, to highlight a few:

With career options spanning from environmental science at Chester Zoo to journalism with ITV News, students left their talks buzzing with excitement and ready to explore their future professional paths.

The day also featured a Higher Education fair where a variety of institutes from across the country from the University of Glasgow to Huddersfield were on hand to provide detailed information about their courses and opportunities.

Students were encouraged to ask all their burning questions about their future career paths, and with an array of informational booklets, prospectuses, and merchandise, no one left empty handed!

To top off the event, a delicious street food lunch was served, offering a variety of options, and of course, an ice cream van added a sweet touch to the festivities!

Futures Day offered an exciting glimpse into potential futures, the chance to engage with higher education institutions, and a day filled with food, sun and live music. It was a great way for our first year students to end the academic year and when they return in September, they start with confidence as they are ready to make informed choices about their next steps.
