A Level Health & Social Care students have been leading Health Promotions this week on topics of teen pregnancy, sexual health, alcohol awareness and healthy eating. As part of their assessment for AS Health & Social Care, students work in teams to produce a stall like ones seen at fresher’s fairs and conferences.
To educate to peers and teachers dropping by, the teams set up stalls with factual and fun displays, pictures, decorations and up to date printed health information from NHS service providers, and health charities like Brook and Terrence Higgins Trust. Students presented information which shocked informed, educated and outlined access to services.
Using inventive props, games and challenges students’ conveyed messages on the dos and don’ts of living healthily through challenging quizzes, accuracy tests when wearing ‘drunk goggles’, taste tests with healthy alcohol free cocktails or nutritious fruit smoothies and time tests like changing a baby in 2 minutes! Students reinforced the communication with take-home goody bags chock-full of advice and sweets.
