BTEC Sport students were recently treated to a wintery afternoon at Manchester’s Chill Factore to take part in skiing, sledging and climbing.
As part of their BTEC Sport National Sub-Diploma (Year 1) and Diploma (Year 2) in Sport the trip was used to focus on anatomy and physiology areas of the course looking at the different muscles and joints used when carrying out the various activities. Other aspects of the course linked to the trip were Sports Psychology and Assessing Risk units, as the students learnt about levels of anxiety when participating in new adventurous activities and the hazards or risks involved with these tasks.
As well as a great day out the groups can now use the experience and apply it to their coursework across various units of study.
