A2 Psychology students visited London this week to attend an A2 Psychology student conference which included presentations from a range of leading Psychologists from across the country.

Professor Russell Foster who is Head of the Circadian Neuroscience Institute started the day with an interesting talk on sleep and the unique sleep patterns in teenagers. He is undertaking a major piece of research on delaying the school day so that it is more in tune with the biological rhythms of teenagers. Professor Mark Griffiths a Chartered Psychologist from Nottingham Trent University explained the nature of addictions and how gambling and video gaming can be just as much an addition as alcohol or nicotine.

In the evening student’s got into the festive spirit and visited Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland where they could purchase gifts, ice skate and go on some hair raising rides!

Students attended the London Dungeons on the second day of the trip, where they had a Crime and Punishment tour and became more familiar with the punishments criminals were given in the past to act as a deterrent to others.
