Head of Media Studies, Lauren Maxwell, explains:

We took a group of Media A Level students on a trip to the National Football Museum in Manchester as the BBC were holding a football festival event with the theme ‘Change the Game’.  This included discussions around mental health, LGBT inclusivity, women and the game, fan power, sustainability and climate change. The event was hosted by BBC Manchester broadcast journalist Mike Minay, and BBC Sport presenter Betty Glover.

The students attended workshops and masterclasses throughout the day, learning skills around sport commentating, match reporting, as well as social media content creation. They were also given the opportunity to meet and ask high profile sport personalities, such as former England and Liverpool footballer Natasha Dowie and Tottenham Hotspur defender Amy Turner questions about their careers.
