An update from the Principal - Monday 20th April 2020

Dear all,

I am sure that you will be aware that since I last wrote to you, the government has confirmed that GCSE results will be issued on Thursday 20th August 2020, which is the same date originally set before the pandemic.

While we cannot be certain of how events will unfold in the UK in the coming months, what we can be sure of is that when you come to start at College in September, it will not be in the same set of circumstances as our new students in previous years, not least because you will have not been in school for nearly six months.

With this in mind, we are already underway in formulating an innovative and exciting programme for new students to help you with the step up to A Levels and/or BTECs after Year 11. Our experience and expertise in teaching ages 16 and over makes us ideally placed to support you best in these extraordinary times.

To complement this, in May we will be in touch regarding our preparation packs which will give you an insight into the subjects you are interested in and give you some grounding in the knowledge base required for each course.

Finally, I realise that finances may be of utmost concern to you and your family at the moment. I would like to remind you that College students in many financial circumstances are entitled to the support of a bursary to help with travel costs, learning resources and meals. Click here for further details about financial support.

I hope you and your family are keeping well, and look forward to the time that we can welcome you to the College.

Kind regards,

Mike Kilbride

Principal
